european

Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium; it is also the main home of the European institutions. Therefore, not only for Europeans but also around the world, the word 'Brussels' has itself become a synonym for these EU institutions, as they exercise their deliberative and decision-making powers.

Today, the city of Brussels hosts in its territory: Sessions of the European Parliament; the headquarters of the European Commission and also of the Council of the European Union; and also the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation or NATO. But Brussels is also a cultural, social and economical mosaic, with a rich multi-faceted life reflecting its central role in the institutions of Europe. Brussels comfortably merits its role as a leading capital among the network of great European cities.
