Under the supervision of a team of academic co-ordinators, the programme is built on a practice-oriented approach, with the Master's curriculum divided into three parts. The total number of working hours dedicated to training activities, including academic activity, guided studies and interactive learning, is 440 hours, with a daily average of 4 hours of lessons plus 3 hours of research and individual studying. Therefore this is a full time, highly intensive Master's course, concentrated into three months, the equivalent of a much longer programme if it were spread out over a more typical university schedule.

Section I: The european construction and community policies
Organized by the Institute of European Studies of the “Université libre de Bruxelles”

During this first theoretical section, the topic of the European construction is analysed from the historical, juridical and economic points of view. The main Community policies and European strategies are examined, in light of the new monetary agreements and also of the Community's recent enlargement. Lectures are held in English. (Historical and political foundations of the European Union; the EU legal order; the internal policies of the European Union, European cultures and society; the external action of the European Union; the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice etc ).

Section II: Successful EU projects: design and management

The second section focuses on learning the mechanisms, tools and criteria for designing and managing successful EU-funded projects. It provides an overview of EU funding programmes at both centralised and decentralised levels. Course work includes programme objectives and procedures, and how to make calls and place applications for the different types of funding. The student learns, with the support of case studies and in interactive workshops, how to create and design a successful EU project. The lessons and the practical planning activities are held in English, conducted by professional EU Community Advisors who have years of experience in planning, advising and providing technical assistance.

Section III: European Institutions, advisors and lobbyists, programming details

On-site lectures and activities are held at the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission, to allow the student to get close to the Community's central institutions, and to better understand their operations. Also, many meetings with experts, advisors and lobbyists who work in Brussels, are scheduled on a weekly basis. An entire day is dedicated to a visit in Luxembourg, at the European Investment Bank.
